For our last two blog posts, we’ve been focusing on just a few of the things that make Greenville such an incredible city. We’ve covered everything from its convenient location to its nationally recognized downtown. This week we will be focusing on the city’s thriving arts scene, of which there is a lot to get excited about.

Greenville Fine Arts

If visual art is your passion, you can’t go wrong in Greenville. We have a multitude of art galleries that embrace and celebrate a variety of mediums, from the traditional to abstract and interpretive. If you’re looking for a diverse collection of pieces to be inspired by, the Greenville County Museum of Art is the place to go. Considered the premier American art museum in the South, the GCMA is home to the world’s largest public collection of watercolors by iconic American artist Andrew Wyeth as well as several other exciting collections. Award winning downtown Greenville is also home to a variety of smaller, independent galleries if you’re looking for a slightly more local artistic experience.

Greenville Arts Festivals

Greenville’s festival calendar is always packed with thrilling events, but Artisphere is definitely the one we are most known for. It takes place every May and has become something a cultural extravaganza in the city. It aims to highlight the talented artists and creators our region has to offer, as well as educate and inspire its audience. More information about this year’s event can be found here: http://www.artisphere.us/

Dance and Theater in Greenville

In addition to arts festivals and galleries, dance and the dramatic arts are alive and well in Greenville. The Carolina Ballet Theater’s season is a cultural highlight for many, and we have several fantastic venues that host world class theatrical productions, including the Peace Center for Performing Arts.
